P’u, the Uncarved Block- a poem

IT seems we strive throughout our days,

To look for beauty’s best.

Reaching for the highest ground,

Not seeing all the rest.

AND yet, the uncarved block retains

Its beauty from within.

Natural unto itself,

And silent where it’s been.

FOR silence speaks a thousand words

On wisdom all its own.

And darkness is but background

For light that’s not yet shown.

Taoism

In Taoism, p’u is a Chinese word that means "unworked wood" or "uncarved block". It refers to the original state of humanity and the idea that things are most powerful when they are in their natural, simple form. It is pronounced like Winnie the Pooh. - google
