A Place to just Be- by Debbie Rackley

This is my place to just “BE”

Do you have one too?

This picture with the 2 tall oak trees is one of my favorites of our pond. They remind me of my parents, both strong and wise, ready to give me support at any moment, listening and understanding, always.

I sit on the glider here between the trees and feel close to my parents while the sounds of birds, ducks, Bald Eagles, hawks, and crows fill the air. The woodpeckers in search of bugs in decayed trees, and frogs croaking as they jump into the pond, remind me of all I have to be so grateful for. The little sign on the right says, “Laddie's Pond”. He was our dog for almost 17 years and loved to swim here. He and three other pets are buried under the tree there.

I find that even if I only have a few minutes for myself in a day, walking back to the pond and sitting there for just those few precious minutes gives me clarity and strength to face whatever lies ahead. Don't we all need that? Don't we deserve a little me time to just “BE”?
