Gathering Flowers- a poem

I walked amongst my garden yet

With sadness in my heart.

For missing you throughout my day,

We seem so far apart.

I soon began to reminisce

And reach down for a flower.

It made me smile and feel you close,

That moment of the hour.

AND as I walked through memory lane,

I found I gathered more-

Until my arms were filled with flowers

Of memories adored.

AND as I left my garden there,

And tears that I had shed,

It came to mind with tears I cried

The flowers, they were fed.

AND in return, my memories

Held gently in my heart,

I came to soon then realize,

We’re never far apart.
