I Carry You- a poem
I woke one day and found my life a shell —
Moments, waiting for the next moment that would somehow make sense to me.
For everything changed when you left. Life was raw. I was vulnerable and lost.
But I made the choice to breathe. People thought I was strong. I don’t remember feeling strong, as life circled around me in a blur.
I can’t tell you when I first felt the ground under my feet. I knew I was walking, but unsure to where. Trusting, I took one step at a time, and by the grace of God, I landed on my feet.
I will always carry the loss of you, but years have become kinder and pain turns into my private space where I still hear you and feel your presence.
