Our first Sunrise- a poem written by Debbie Stivender Rackley

“Mommy, what are you looking at so far away?”

“My sweet little daughter, sent from heaven above, it is our very first sunrise as we begin our life's journey together.”

“Oh mommy, what a wondrous gift you have given me already, and now this too?”

“You gave me a warm, loving and safe place to grow inside of you for nine months. Your soothing voice and calming heartbeat prepared me for what I did not know was yet to come.”

“Mommy, hold me in your loving arms. Let me hear your heart beat close to mine while I am little, then hold my hand as I get bigger. Teach me all I need to know to see God's great wonders all around us.”

“For I know him well, as he sent me to you. To feel love for all creatures, from the largest down to the smallest. To feel the warm rising sun upon my face as it peeks over the horizon in a warm embrace.”

“To learn how to walk, run and jump real high, and to pick myself up when I stumble and fall. To always stand for what I believe to be right, even if I must stand alone.”

“For you will raise me to know my worth is not measured by others, but by our faith, love, and honor. That makes us who we are to become.”

“So mommy, let us look up at the night sky and watch the moon rise amid the twinkling stars. Let’s hug & kiss as we say goodnight, and dream of all the sunrises & all of the sunsets~

AS YOU RAISE ME TO BECOME THE WOMAN I AM MEANT TO BE.”
