My shoes- a poem
I reach down and slip on my shoes,
At first start of my day.
Bed is made, my dog is fed,
We head out on our way.
AND so begins the tapestry
Of life before my eyes,
For everyone has thoughts they hear
As they go walking by.
THE children scuffle down the street,
While dreams are filled with toys.
The young love walking, hand in hand
Embracing all their joys.
THE parents watching babies,
As they hurry on the spot.
An older woman moves along
So deep in her own thoughts.
ME, I sit and watch the world
As it goes walking by.
Interrupted only when
The birds go flying by.
AND as I walk back home to see
My most familiar place,
I slip my shoes off with a smile
My heart is filled with grace.
