Old & New

A hydrangea bush outside my window is displaying tiny new shoots of leaves, peaking out after a long winter. Likewise, some flowers dried on the branch late fall and somehow withstood the cold and snowy days.

I love to see both old and new together. One should never replace the other, as both are as beautiful. Old gives us the comfort of memories and surrounds us with the feeling of nostalgia. New awakens us with the hopes of tomorrow and the future.

Reminds me of Girl Scout lyrics Moma used to sing to me-

Make new friends,
But keep the old.
One is silver,
And the other, gold.

I believe life is a perfect balance of both.
