The Rock- a poem
ONE day, a bird along the shore
Came across a stone.
Sitting there among the sand,
It seemed yet quite alone.
THE bird looked at the stone and said,
“Of all the rocks I see,
It’s you that seems the strongest one
With all your majesty.”
“ HOW is it that you have strength,
And still are so refined?
With not a rugged edge to show
For wear of all your time?”
“INDEED,” the stone at once replied,
“The edges disappeared.
For time is what has made me smooth,
Over the many years.”
“THE motion of my life among
The water and the shore,
Has given me a gift to see
That strength can come with more.”
AND so the rock majestically,
Sat proudly on the sand.
Knowing life would bring yet more,
Assured it would withstand.
