Return to Mellow

Relationships are very intricate. Add caregiving to the mix, and the plot thickens. Caregiving requires strength. It also requires softness. Most of all, it requires the understanding of when each is needed.

Occasionally, a situation requires both at the same time. Now that’s a challenge. Worse yet, you struggle with your own emotions, all the while taking things personally, for, after all, you are the only other person in the room.

Try to remember the loved one you’re caring for is hurting also. Possibly frustrated for feeling ill. Maybe angry about feeling old. Breathe. Let the words in the room fall to the ground. Start again.
