Now a Friend- a poem

ONE day, I packed to travel on

The path just up ahead.

For surely life is sweeter there,

From all the books I’ve read.

AND as I walked the road of life,

I found, to my surprise,

That every corner you will turn,

Will bring both lows and highs.

BUT rather, it’s more what you have

Along your chosen way.

The promises you keep and, yes,

The words that you will say.

AND as I now embrace my life,

A warmth comes over me.

For what was “old” is now a friend,

How lucky can one be?
